The Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Olsztyn is responsible for testing the air quality in the Warmian – Masurian Voivodeship in order to perform air quality assessments, inform the section responsible for emergency management and public about the current air quality. Automatic measurements of gaseous and particulate pollutants are conducted in 5 monitoring stations: Olsztyn, Elbląg, Ostróda, Gołdapia and Mrągowo. At these stations are measured pollutants such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, tropospheric ozone, nitrogen oxides, particulate matter PM10. Additionally, at stations in Olsztyn and Elbląg are measured: benzene, toluene, xylenes and ethylbenzene.
